If you would like to own a smartphone with impressive features without digging deep down into your pockets, then you should consider Samsung Galaxy S3. Despite being Samsung’s 2012 flagship device, this smartphone is still amazing. Galaxy S3 is designed to do so much that it’s even impossible to get to know everything that it’s capable of in a few days after your purchase. This is clearly shown in the next section of this detailed review.

1. Beautiful Design

There are various color options including Sapphire Black, Marble White, Garnet Red, Titanium Gray, Pebble Blue, Amber Brown and La Fleur. The edges and corners are well rounded leading to smooth spines and trim pieces all around while the backing is arranged to give Galaxy S3 more of a unibody feel. The smartphone feels comfortable even when you hold it with one hand as it perfectly conforms to your grip. The 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED Display also features a thin, light Gorilla Glass 2 protection cover that makes Galaxy S3 durable.

2. Starter Mode

Galaxy S3 features a smart starter mode that enables you to use a simpler interface. Once you turn it on, you’ll be able to access your smartphone settings as well as the commonly used features from the home screen. To turn Starter Mode on, go to Settings> Home Screen Mode> Select “Starter Mode” then tap “Apply.”

3. Camera Quick Access

If you want to take photos as fast as possible, Camera Quick Access feature enables you to turn on the camera by just holding the screen with your finger and then rotating your smartphone. Go to Settings> Lock screen> Lock Screen Options> Camera Quick Access

4. Double Tap to Top

When you are tired of scrolling to the top of your messages and emails, or any other lists on your smartphone, “Double tap to top” can be really helpful. This feature senses “two taps” on top of Galaxy S3 screen and then the displayed content scrolls automatically to the top. To turn it on, go to Settings> Motion> Double tap to top.

5. Smart Stay

With the help of Smart Stay feature, Samsung Galaxy S3 automatically recognizes the moment you are looking at the smartphone, whether it’s when you are browsing the web, or reading an eBook. The front camera concentrates on your eyes as it maintains a bright display for your viewing pleasure. You can turn on Smart Stay by tapping Settings> Display> Smart Stay. Galaxy S3 will then show an icon on your screen once it detects your eyes and keeps the display active.

6. Pop Up Play

Pop up play has been designed with Picture-in-picture technology, letting you watch an HD video in a new window while sending texts or emails simultaneously. The video window can be dragged anywhere on the screen as you chat or surf the web.

7. S-Beam

Sharing content with friends and relatives has been made easy, quick and fun with S-Beam. It lets you bond instantly and transfers contacts, documents, videos, music, photos and more. You simply need to put the backs of the two smartphones together, connect them and then share your files. To enable S-Beam, go to Settings> More Settings> Turn on NFC and S-Beam.

8. Direct Call

Samsung Galaxy S3 determines when you want to make a call. For example, if you’re messaging someone and then you decide to call them instead, you’ll simply need to lift your smartphone to your ear, and Direct Call will automatically dial his/her number for you. To turn Direct Call on, go to Settings> Motion> Direct Call

9. Social Tag

Keep track of your loved ones and friends with Social Tag. You’ll be able to link the faces in your photo album with your friends/loved one’s social media streams. After setting it up, you’ll just look at their photos and see their current status.

10. S-Voice

You can tell Samsung Galaxy S3 to wake up, turn off the alarm for a few minutes, answer or reject a call, turn music up or down and even tell the camera when to shoot, thanks to S-Voice.

11. Smart Alert

When you pick up Galaxy S3, the Smart Alert feature lets you know what has been happening by giving you a brief vibrating nudge that informs you about new messages and missed calls.

12. Information Ticker

Keep up with social media updates and choose to see stock alerts and news on Galaxy S3 lock screen with Information Ticker setting. This feature can be turned on by going to Settings> Lock screen options> Information ticker. You can then tap the line to pick the ticker you want.

13. Power Saving Mode

If you would like to extend the battery life of Galaxy S3, the power saving mode is included in the design of this amazing smartphone. It automatically controls your settings to help the batteries last longer. This includes limiting the processor and turning off haptic feedback. Enable Power Saving Mode by tapping Settings> Power Saving Mode> Toggle On.

14. Set Data Limits

Avoid data overages using Galaxy S3 data monitor. You can also use this feature to set a data alert limit and data cutoff limit. Tap Settings> Data Usage> check “Alert me about data usage” and “Limit mobile data” and then drag the sliders to set your limits.
